

MUSCAT: As many as 100 postgraduate researchers trained in advanced statistical analysis from Omani higher education institutions will be honoured at the closing ceremony of 5th Research Skills Forum to be held by the Research and Innovation Authority, marking a gigantic leap in Oman's keenness on developing a knowledge-based economy on Thursday.
The event will be held under the auspices of Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Shibli, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Higher Education, at the Arab Open University in Muscat under the theme 'Advanced Statistical Data Analysis'. It will also witness an elite group of delegates sharing research and analysis points of view with the students.
Running from 8 to 20 August, the two-week forum brought together 100 male and female postgraduate researchers who received an intensive training programme focused on equipping themselves with practical skills in Statistical Analysis Software (SPSS), techniques for importing electronic questionnaire data, and the integration of artificial intelligence applications in research analytics.
According to the Research and Innovation Authority, the forum aimed to empower postgraduate students and researchers across Oman and enhance the quality of scientific output in line with Oman Vision 2040 priorities for education, research, and innovation.
"The forum seeks to improve modern statistical methods to boost the quality of research and increase peer-reviewed publication rates for national scholars," the Authority stated. It also emphasised building networking and cooperative frameworks across local higher education bodies.
The closing ceremony will include a review of the forum’s key outcomes and results achieved during the training period. Participants, trainers, and supporting entities that contributed to the success of this edition will also be honoured.
The Research and Innovation Authority extended its appreciation to all the stakeholders for their role in highlighting national programmes.
